Depression

We can all feel a bit down or low every now and again.  Things can happen in life that make us feel sad.  It is normal to feel these things from time to time.  Depression however is a deep sadness that stays with a person for weeks, months, even years.  Depression is a serious illness and is much more common than we may think.  It can cause lots of unwanted feelings and emotions.

  • Low mood and sadness

  • Having no motivation to function properly at work or at home

  • Loss of interest in activities you used to love

  • Losing interest in life itself

  • Difficulty in making decisions

  • Feeling hopeless and helpless

  • Feeling tearful

  • Feeling irritable

  • Feeling anxious, stressed or worried

  • Feeling like there is no way back.

These feelings can be extremely overwhelming.  Small tasks may become very daunting and your sleep pattern could be all over.

The good news is, with the correct treatment and support depression can be treated very successfully.  Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can offer an alternative or complementary approach to medication.

At the initial consultation I will explain how our brain works and why you feel the way you do.  Having an understanding of this can immediately give you a bit of relief, and give you the confidence you need to start to look forward again.  We can then work together on getting back the 'real you'.

You will receive a relaxing download (or CD) that you can listen to each night as your going to sleep.  This will help you to relax and get you back into a good sleeping pattern.  Once you start to sleep better you will wake up feeling refreshed.  When you feel relaxed and rested you generally feel more positive and start to enjoy life again.  Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can also help to raise your natural serotonin levels.  Serotonin is our happy chemical and when we have a constant flow of serotonin this helps us cope much better with life, we can start to 'think' 'act' and 'interact' in a positive way again, start to bring back the 'real you'!
